My name is Tony Catinella and I will be the next Editor-in-Chief of the Pierce Arrow. I am honored to take over the Franklin Pierce campus newspaper because I feel it is very important to deliver the news to the students of our University. My biggest goal for next year is to cover a wider variety of topics. I want every major event on campus to be covered. Th is may be impossible to accomplish, but I will give my best effort to try to achieve this goal because our student body should know about every campus event, every club, every sports team, and every confl ict that arises at Franklin Pierce. How will I achieve this goal? Th e only way to achieve it is by getting more writers, photographers, and graphic designers for our newspapers. You do not have to be a Mass Comm student to join. Anyone can write for the paper. In fact, Journalism majors have failed to write for the Pierce Arrow and it baffl es my mind. Why would any journalism major not want to write for a student newspaper? What better experience can a journalist get than to write for a campus paper? Dozens of Journalism majors that I have pleaded with to write for the Arrow have made the excuse that they were too busy writing for their journalism classes who publish their class assignments on the Exchange online newspaper. Yeah, the Exchange is a professional publication, but why not write for the Arrow too. If any Journalism major wants to be a reporter in the "real world" they are going to have to write articles everyday as opposed to one article per week, which most students do here at school. Th e students who wrote for the Pierce Arrow this year have been the most dedicated staff I have seen since I came to this school. Because we have a very limited staff which consists of less than ten students, every editor had to work twice as hard and cover numerous stories each week just to fi ll our eight page paper. Current Editor-in-Chief Molly Jackson has done a fabulous job this whole year of running the show. Our paper is proud to say that we published a paper every two weeks and we covered every major campus event with a very limited staff . It took me until today (now that I am the new Editor-in-Chief) to realize how much pressure was on Molly each and every week to complete a newspaper. Molly took a lot of criticism this year, but she was the most positive writer I have ever worked with, and she worked her butt off to make this paper look professional. I will deeply miss Molly and Copy Editor Cristal Pinnix and Arts and Entertainment Editor Andy Rathier. Th ey were not only dedicated staff members but they were all great people. Next year I look forward to working with an amazing staff . Harmony Gensch, Holly Rose, and James Sennott will return to layout the paper. Erica Jordan and Robbie Michaelson will return as editors, and Francesca Santoro and Kimberly Ruth will added to the editorial staff. I hope the Pierce Arrow Newspaper can expand next year. I hope more writers will contribute to the paper. If you are reading this and are interested in covering campus news please feel free to e-mail me at Arrowchief@gmail.com.
