If one looks at the glass half empty one would see that the Men's Lacrosse team did not have anything to cheer about this season. They won only two games and ended their season on a 10 game losing streak. They let up 20 or more goals on three different occasions including a 22-4 whipping by Bryant and a 20-3 spanking from the number one team in the nation, Le Moyne College. But if one looks at the glass half full one would realize what a success the 2008 season really was for the Ravens. If one looked at the bright side, one would see all the progress that this young team is making. Head Coach Kevin Pezanowski knows that this team is heading in a positive direction. "When you are trying to rebuild a program you have to see little successes along the way," Coach Pezanowski said. "We will work our way towards being a strong program, it just takes a little time." Sixty-eight percent of the Men's Lacrosse team is either a freshman or sophomore and they are making achievements for the first time. This season freshman goalie D.A. Ivie made his first collegiate start against Rollins this season, making four saves to earn his first career win. In that victory against Rollins, sophomore Spencer Murray and freshman Jon Martinez scored their first collegiate goals. Another Raven goalie, Shea Campbell, also made his first start this season and got his first victory in a win against American International College. Also in that victory, freshman attackman Jack Scanlan scored his first collegiate goal. Freshman Ken Stubbolo also scored his first college goal this season in a March 5 game against Dowling. If having freshman and sophomores scoring goals for the first time is not a great enough achievement, the 2008 Ravens Lacrosse team can also be proud of the fact that their captain Luke Ferreira scored more than any other player in Franklin Pierce history. The 185-pound senior captain finished his four-year career as the school's all-time leader in goals scored with 76. Ferreira had 29 points this season and sees hope for the Ravens future. "It was a positive season," he said. "The freshmen did a good job and it's only going to get better in the future." Coach Pezanowski also sees a positive look on the 2008 season. He knows winning takes patience. "All in all you never really like to have loses but we're really young this year," said Pezanowski. "Some of our losses this year I can kind of contribute to youth. Freshman kids playing against college players: it's a tough transition." The Ravens are only losing three seniors and will look to be more experienced next year.
