- Treasurer resigns Tuan Nguyen resigned as Treasurer of the Student Government Association. According to President Bailey Gaff ney, his resignation letter said it was for "personal reasons." This would have been Nguyen's second term as Treasurer. Nguyen also resigned from the SGA in November 2007. Currently, Gaffney will have to take up the responsibilities until a new treasurer is elected.
- Superbad Day delayed Th e Class of 2010 had to postpone their "Superbad Day" due to Sunday's weather conditions to Wednesday, May 7. The day was to consist of many activities including a grill off. However, on Wednesday the Fake I.D. booth and movie are still planned to continue.
- SGA lights up Lakeview Next year, the senior living area will be more lit. Th e Student Government Association and Senior Staff approved a proposal for a lit walkway between Lakeview and Sawmills. Th e walkway will be 400 feet, have at least two light poles, and an emergency call box. The proposal was submitted by the SGA's Capital Improvement's committee.
- Explosion in San Diego San Diego experienced an explosion at the federal courthouse on Sunday, May 4. According to the AP, it was a suspected pipe bomb that shattered the glass in the entryway and damaged the lobby. No injuries were reported.
- Holy name change 57-year-old Steve Kreuscher wants to change his name legally to "In God We Trust." According to the AP, his new name would symbolize the help God gave him through tough times.
- Fitz. Seniors honored The Marlin Fitzwater Honors Awards were presented on Monday May 5. Seniors Arikka Knights and Daniel Desrochers will be honored for their Leadership in Public Communications. Th e 27th White House Press Secretary Dana Perino spoke at the event. Th e Alumni Award winner was Mark Tieger from the class of 1969. Th e High School Teacher Award Winner is Michael O'Leary from the Con- Val High School. Th e awards were given at Pierce Hall and Marlin Fitzwater was in attendance.
- Softball rained out The Annual Intramural Softball tournament has been cancelled due to rain. The one day event was supposed to take place on May 3 but the spring showers were responsible for a cancellation.
- The Pub floods Many students and staff members are out of jobs after a water pipe broke in the Ravens nest, closing the food facility. The Ravens Nest, also known as "the pub," will be closed for the remainder of the school year. Students have not been notified if they will be refunded for their pub points.
- FP Athletics Banquet Hundreds of athletes gathered the Fieldhouse on May 4 for the annually Athletics Banquet. Th e 1995 National Champion Franklin Pierce Women's Soccer Team were recognized at the event. Every Franklin Pierce Athletics team was present at the event.
- Smoke closes road Smoke was found in the storage facility behind the dance studio. Several fire companies responded, EMTs were on standby, and access to Pierce Drive was closed for nearly 45 minutes. The cause is still unknown.
