With a win against Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) on April 14 and a loss by Southern Connecticut State, the Ravens moved into a tie with SCS for first place in the NE-10, as of April 16.

On Wednesday April 14, the Ravens were led by the arm of junior Jose Macias (5- 0), who threw seven innings giving up three runs and striking out nine. The bats of senior second baseman Cody Kauffman and junior left fielder Mike Munoz were also contributors.

After a leadoff double, Macias settled down to retire the next three SNHU hitters and get out of the first inning. The Ravens jumped to an early lead scoring two runs in the first inning when sophomore catcher Mike Dowd doubled home Kauffman and later scored on a Munoz ground out. Munoz added another RBI single in the third inning.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the sixth when freshman center fielder Nick LaCroix ripped an RBI single to left, putting the Ravens up 4-3. The Ravens added another run in the seventh on another Munoz RBI single.

“Cody (Kauffman) was big, getting on and starting rallies, my quad healed up and I closed my stance and I started to stroke again,” said Munoz.

Freshman relief pitcher Rob Blanc came in and pitched a perfect eighth inning with two strike outs and junior Rob Nicholas followed with a perfect ninth with two strike outs.

The next day the Ravens took the field against non-conference opponent Concordia. The Ravens were lead by freshmen pitcher Joe Flynn (4-2), center fielder Nick LeCroix, and graduate student first baseman Mike Augustine.

The score was tied at one going into the home half of the fifth when the Ravens exploded for six runs, capped off by a three run homerun by LeCroix. Augustine added a solo shot in the sixth to put the Ravens up 8-1.

After giving up three singles, a double, and a sacrifice fly, Flynn was lifted for senior relief pitcher Heath Wasylow with the score 8- 4 with one out in the eighth. Wasylow pitched an inning and a third, including a perfect ninth with three strike outs.

With the wins, the Ravens are 24-10 overall and 11- 4 in NE-10 play. The Ravens are ranked 29 in the nation and will start the NE- 10 championship on May 6-10.
